I751 - Question regarding the Receipt, Dilemma!!

I have filed my I751 in April 07 and received NOA (I797) which states "Your conditional resident status has been extended for 1 year from the date of expiration on your Form I551. During the 1 year extension you are authorized employment and travel."
My question is: my employer is requesting proof of legal employment status and apparently this NOA is not enough. I have made an infopass with INS to see if they are able to provide something in writing (I highly doubt that). Does that mean that I need to apply all over again for a new Work Permit?? Can someone please advise? Any help is much appreciated.

thanks for ur reply, but they were saying that i need to show some type of a proof other than that NOA letter, because my GC is now expired and my passport as well (which im in process of renewing with the embassy). What else can I show them?

The GC and the NOA. The GC is expired, but the NOA extends its validity for 1 YEAR. Along with your unrestricted SS Card. Bring a lawyer! :p

you are actually required to show him just the SSN without the line that says "valid for work with DHS authorization" and a driver's licence.

Yes, my SSN card does not have that verbiage so im ok, but when asked if im a US citizen or do I have a proof of valid employment status, I was told that the NOA is not sufficient enough. I came across the same situation when I had to apply for one license recently when the application was returned stating that my GC expired and that i dont have sufficient proof of legal status. What else can I show them?
