I485 will be like LC

From past experience and my gut feeling, I suspect that 485 approval, especially EB based, will pretty much like what is going on for LC. It will be extremely slow, officers will not even look at the EB based apps any more.

It once happened in history that 485 will take more than 2 years to be approved. Last time it involved with CIA clearance or what thing else. This time, it is even worse. US will have a war and economy is not getting better.

All foreign workers will be trashed. Believe it or not.

It is coming.

what proof do you have to support your thesis?

I mean, besides what your gut is telling you? Can we just stick to the facts here please?

Let us realize that US is now different. It will have a different policy on immigration. I am not discouraging anyone, but this is what happening now. Washington only cares about war, terrorism. Little Bush will never cater big business for a loose EB based immigration policy. Althought Fed chairman is urging more immigrants to save the bankrupt social security, he is not listening and sees no importance. He, along with other capitol gangs, will just try to forget the foeign workers.

Just as how fast the American attitude has changed after France was not cooperating in UN resolution. They joked them, thretends to withdraw army from Europe. Americans are just too easy to shift their attitude.

H1B workers will not be any politician's poker card. damed new INS staff will try everything to stop foreign workers in. Congressman or senetors will not push the issue of slow INS processing to the debate floor.

This is a ugly picture. I am feeing American will become more isolated in interbal community, like what they used to be in the earlier 20th century. Isolationism!!!!

For those in line waiting for 485 approval, including me, I can only say good luck. For those who already become the perm resident, do not relax yet. I am pretty sure somewhere down the line, more trouble will arise.

This is just the follow through effect of the irrational exuberance or the bust of high tech bubble. Maybe we should never get here.

At last, good luck to me and everyone. Just be prepared for the worst thing that could happen to us.

I think LC66 is an extreme sample of what a pessimist can be...
Things are bad, but regarding the immigration, it's nothing serious in comparison to all that terrorism threats the US residents face nowadays.

LC66, if you know something that we don't, point us to the source. Really, if you have the inside scoop on where the Bush administration's immigration policy is headed over the next six months enlighten us with the facts. I'd be interested to hear them. If you can't, stop speculating. As I've said before wild guesses and pessimistic rants don't benefit anyone. This board is a community of like-minded people looking for support and encouragement. If you have concerns about your application, post a question. I'm sure someone on this board can offer you some advice.

This is what Murthy thinks

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chat User : Dear Ms. Murthy, you wrote last week that AOS approvals are still slow or even not coming along at all. What do you think is going on that accounts for this slowdown?

Attorney Murthy : The slowdown may have to do with the INS backlogs, delays with FBI security clearances, or their own administrative processing delays. Also, the INS is required to adjudicate some case types like the H1Bs, L-1s, and many other short-term classifications much faster. So, the GC processing seems to be taking longer and longer since the INS probably believes that that is not required on a rush basis, with the person having agreed to work permanently for the GC-sponsoring employer. We are continuing to receive approvals of AOS cases on a fairly regular basis. We have gotten them from Vermont, Nebraska, and California, but not Texas.

LC66, I think you are right, but Shhhh

I believe most of the persons in this site know that's true ( because I can see that people here are very intelligent), but if you say it out, it depresses people who desperately wait for GC even more.

So just let it be, if you still believe america dream, stick with it. if you don't, you should go where you think it is better than USA. personally, I am very disappointed with Bush, the US gov and the way they try to save economy.

I don't know if I can get the GC, but I am not quite concerning it as I was before. USA is not the dreamland anymore, look at the news, it is all about war, terrorist, bad economy, and what we talk in office is nothing but layoffs. I have been worrying about being laid off for a long time, but now, I've so done with it. whatever it will happens, let it be.

I am justing trying to give your guys who are too optimistic a realistic view of the current situation. Letting those irrational optimistic guys face the reality is what I think the greatest help to them. Take your head out of your ass to face the reality. Do not count on or even begging, as some of your guys look like, that some of your guys the new agency for a quick pick up in speed. It will not get back in near future to the speed of what it used to be until US solves the issue with Iraqi, INS will not approve any EB GCs. Maybe I am too pessimistic, but remember my words here.

I think I am closer to approval than most of you guys. But as someone said I just let it be. I will take whatever I deserve to have.

US is still my dream, I will not give up all the efforts I have made so far. However having a realistic view of the whole situation will help me face any thing what could happen

For the guy who wants me to give some source. Do you think INS will let us know why they are slowing down, and why they approve EB 485 like snails. Hee Hee. No never ever will they reveal the reason. They willl hide the truth and continue to say that they are work on cases. Crap! Just use a little of your brain to face the political situation here. You are being manipulated.

dude,

if you are so fed up...do something about it.. why dont u pack ur bags and take the first flight out of san francisco.... its their country, they have a rite to make their own rules,if u liike it fine, if u dont too bad
and yea btw, thanks for all the political news, none of us have cable at home....

Murthy's comments

Murthy's comments just second my thoughts on whats happenng at BCIS ..

Very eager to see first JIT from BCIS .. Is it going to be any different from the past .. Hope it atleast moves by a week ..

Eventually.., I am hoping JIT to move by a week atleast this week, especially considering it hasn't moved for the past 1 month. Anyway, I don't think much will change with INS->BCIS, but I do agree that the immigration system will get more and more fucked up as every day goes by. Especially with Bush and Cheney two pigs in office, I donot see any emphasis being given to economy in near term. This pace of immigration being given the backseat will only gain accelleration as time goes by. Though I do disagree with LC66, given all the choices, America still rocks and a green card is worth the wait.

I'd like to quote Robin williams here, "George bush trying to help the economy is like a leopard giving you a facial, just doesn't work".

And yea it's true. Even Alan Greenspan, fed chief thru many president terms, the only man who recogonized "irrational exuberance", has commented that

a) War prospects are hurting the economy and,
b) Bush's tax cuts are too expensive with little benefit. (Of course, it translates to billions of dollars, and you as a family get 300$ .. which is taxable next year .. does 300$ change your lifestyle for a year?? Get serious)

But Bush (and his team) are acting like a bull in a china shop. I wouldn't be surprised to see if all the midwestern states end up putting him in office for another 4 years though.

Damn floridans, if only they understood the ballot properly.

Added later ..
The real crash is still impending, when the consumer confidence tanks, and thats only beginning to happen.

Guys; Just keep cool...eventually we all will get there..yes it may take more time..instead of 6-8 months ( intial expectation) it may take 2-3 years...for me 18 months since my 485 application any way..

For the worst case...Software industry in India is flourishing so don't worry about it ( keep it your backup.) and Just pray for each other.

Hi Guys,
It has been fun reading all the posts.

Silly_man, I have been following your posts for a long time and have a great deal of respect for your commitment to this forum and doing a lot of leg work to provide the rest of us with valuable information. Really wish you get your GC quickly. Mine will take another 2 years or so - so i dont think about it :-)

Poor Bush. He is the only one that is trying to give us our own money back - which otherwise would have gone to sponsor leather parties for gays & lesbians in SF (seriously). Timing may be not so good given that war is playing on everyone's mind, but if you guys took economics both war & tax breaks are known to boost economic growth. the media and everyone else makes a big deal out of deficits from tax breaks but doesn't say anything when congress does a lot of spending. you dont worry - better to go down with your money in your pocket - rather than go down without your money! giving your money to the govt is assuming that govt can make a decent ROI on your money - that isn't the case - govt is the worst kind of company around. even after these cuts they have 30% of my money (make that 40% with state taxes) and I am still pissed off.

Sorry if I sound like a republican (does it matter - i cannot vote!) but blaming bush for the economic situation is showing a very naive approach to the real facts. 9/11 was the big inflexion point and those Usama dudes entered under Clinton :-) - also stock market rise to 5000 on NASD happened just 3 months after bush joined - he was in texas till then. no excuses - bush is as bad as clinton. only clinton was much better at convincing everyone that he was a really smart guy. Poor bush.

What Bush can do is give immigration a priority. People have been screaming for years - you know if your parents are GC holders and you wanted to join them it would take 8 years. Everything is relative. One guy who takes ownership for this and currently his name is Tom Ridge. Suggest we find his home address and send him letters!! Atleast he will be aware of the backup. When no one cares it becomes important to make them care.

If you ask me, we're in round 1 of the technology revolution (like the industrial revolution) and we just need to learn as much as possible both about the technology and business and position ourselves into very precious commodities. If you are smart you will make money - tons of it - whether it is here or in someother country it really doesnt matter - becos when you are making this money the world will be your playground and you will look back and laugh that you had this little GC issue and you thought it was the most important event in your life.

Take care
:D

*sigh* looks like I always miss the good debates. If it is not too late to add my 2 cents:

I refuse to lock horns with LC66, too much whining going on there to bother. But Bush and the economy, now that is an interesting discussion! Probably this is the wrong place for it, but since it does have some bearing on the 485 situation, I guess we can post on it in this thread.

long_wait_4_gc,

I do agree with most of your points about the economy not being Bush's fault, but I seriously believe he is screwing it way more than he should (but then who can blame him after seeing Laura?). True that War does help the economy (the US got 170 billion dollars worth of export orders after the gulf war, with a 12 billion dollar investment), but only if it is a war that lasts long enough. A short term war always hurts the economy. Consumer confidence drops, consumer spending drops. Causing the chain reaction to start all over again. How long does anyone expect Iraq to last? And why is Bush going there in the first place? North Korea is sitting on Nuclear technology, they have ballistic missiles, are a know proleferator of weapons of mass destruction. And What is Bush's comment to them? "We will use diplomacy." That freak of nature instead wants to go for the oil, he refuses to invest in alternative sources of fuel, invokes the name of god and security in every decision. I don't see how these things are going to help the economy. The social security concept in America is bankrupt. Without more people supporting the economy, we are definitely not going to see a penny of what we invest here.

As far as immigration is concerned. Bush would rather work on the Mexican vote, than true white collar workers who will contribute so much more money and shore up the already shaky American economy.

But one sentiment expressed in this thread that I really like is the fact that I don't give one shit about the GC any more. I don't really care too much about living in the US too. I have lived under the lay off axe for the past 18 months, and don't care too much about that as well. Offcourse I like my lifestyle and life here, but am not too bothered if I have to go back. I think I have received enough experience to be valuable to any country I go too. I have received enough exposure to make a contribution. It will be a pain to relocate but hey India is a nice place to live and the rest of the world is our oyster! :) Screw Bush and his policies. I am no longer going to put my head down for them to crush.

Good - now we're talking. Seriously I don't really understand this whole Iraq thing, but if you think about it, bush is pretty smart and i am sure he knows something that he can prove later. it has to be. he isn't so stupid (duh)! he'll go in there and come out with the "smoking gun" and prove that he was right and he saved the world. he knows what he is going to find. he knew 2 months ago.

On North Korea - i think there is more than meets the eye. I think they understand Kim better and the stunts he is pulling off. God knows - inside the whitehouse all kinds of politics and scenarios are being played out. let's see.

good points on consumer confidence and short term wars being bad for the economy.

also fully agree that bush only cares for the mexican vote. why else don't we have the army on the border? because any politician that does it will no longer be in office! tons of drugs, and illegals come in but no one will go there. Oh no, its better to fight the war on terror in iraq than on the american border. wah!

You know if we could get organized enough to start our own "indian technology union" where all the people that work in hi-tech were part of this union - we would have some serious bargainaing power. Because if we get "pissed" off, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco & Oracle are not going to make their next quarters numbers. Trust me - I am sure they won't! That is a big enough threat to make some pretty powerful people like BillG make that phone call to Bush. Not to forget Warren Buffett. Maybe even Greenspan will say something like "the indian union is critical to america's success"

GDP growth is everything. if america grew 1% slower every year for the last century than it did - the standard of living would rival that of mexico - serious! Threaten their GDP and kick them in their balls.

long_wait_4_gc, I like your republican talk. I agree the government can never be a successful enterprise, but, giving tax cuts when the budget deficit is already humungous, how smart is that?

Regards the Indian union, 3 problems.

a) Who is gonna bell the cat and lead the group? Not me .. I would like a GC eventually.
b) The percentage of the workforce on H1b is pretty darned low. Of those who are in 485 stage .. towards ending .. in CSC is even lower, do you really think if we decided to stop GDP progress, would we get fired .. or be able to reduce GDP by a full percentage? What comes first?
c) BillG has his own problems with the government. Trust me, he agrees with us (I asked hehe).

About the point that Bush is trying to prove to the world. So far he has proved only one thing, "he is trying to bully the world". Get serious, people IN America have started thinking negatively about their PRESIDENT .. how do people in Saudi Arabia feel? But yea yea .. typical american attitude, what do camel humpers know about flying jets like we do .. huh?
