hello everyone, my 1485 was filied in jan 2002, fp in march, ead in april, but have not received the receipt for tracking the i485, spoke to my lawyer he said it is kind of normal , sometime they dont issue a receipt, was wondering is it really a normal thing, i have the receipt date, notice date, and the priority date on the fp notice i had received, but no actual receipt for the 1485, have you heard or such thing before, please let me know.
thanks

maybe lawyer lost receipt

INS will not resend 485 receipt (or any other receipt notices for that matter)..
You need a receipt number for your reference and I suggest you call INS using the references in FP /EAD find your receipt number (if it is not in FP notice).

It looks strange

I hope your attorney is not telling truth to you.

In general, INS sends a receipt for any application they received, (As they accept the application)earlier or later.
You attorney receives the receipt before you get your EAD.

I suspect your attrorney in your case.
He may be not telling you as Either he misplaced it or he may not willing to give you receipt notice.

This is my opinion

Lost in mail

INS generates tons of receipts and quite likely yours got lost. My employer never received my I-140 receipt. So we just had to wait till it was approved, which quite luckily happened very quickly. A friend never got her EAD card, though the AVM said it was approved. It took her 2 - 3 months to get a replacement (this was a few years ago, though) If you seach this board's archives, you would find folks who were in the same situation.

But INS system does issue a Notice when a case is entered - however they say it does not get printed sometimes!!
