Hi Gurus,
I\'ve a question. Is the original I-485 Approval Notice, which is received by the Attorney is the property of the company or the employee for which this is filed.

Is attorney is bound to send it to Employee for which this is filed or not.
Lets say company ask his lawyer not to send the approval notice to the employee for some reason, can lawyer can do that?

Many a employees are in a situation where they just changed the employment after 180 days and couldn\'t change lawyer and the approval notice has come in this transition?

What happens?? Any thoughts??

Thanks.

Prevention better than cure

File a G28 and change the attorney or write to the INS and declare that you are not going to use a lawyer anymore and all communication should be sent to you.
If you have paid part of the fee than you can claim that attorney was hired by you. Otherwise, you will not be considered THE client by the attorney.

Did you sign a G-28

If you signed a G-28 as part of the I-485, then the attorney is representing you. The G-28 is a signed document establishing the attorney\'s representation of you, the petitioner in the I-485 process. If the attorney doesn\'t send you the approval notice, then write the INS, request a copy for yourself, and report the attorney to the state bar association the day after you receive the approval notice.

I did signed G-28. Means he need to send me the Approval Notice :-)

Are you sure, we can ask INS for a copy for self?

thanks in Advance.

question - is this a

real situation or purely hypothetical

I have heard of people going to INS and getting the passport stamp on courtesty notice

Do u need the original

Question have u heard the avm saying u have been approved ?

The problem is Real, not hypothetical. Possiblity of this is very high.

rjngh,
The problem is that I\'ve changed address and I\'ve heard lots of stories that INS send approval notice to old address even if people have confirmed the change of address.

So chances that I may not get courtsey copy because of address change, and as job change is almost imminent I don\'t believe that company attorney is going to co-operate.

The I-485 has not yet approved but may approve on any day now.

So what to do in this situation. The best possible thing we can do.

Thanks.

Here is the deal...after approval they send you courtesy copy...

If you have not received they have an option on AVM which says
\'This case approved...if you have not recd the approval in 14 days you may want to change the address\' so you will get a chance to change that time and they will send it to you (courtesy copy). Most local offices accept courtesy copies for stamping.

Good luck.
