I130 and Priority Dates for married daughter - Nebraska Center

All - I filed a petition for my married daughter and her family with the receipt date January 2001. I check the immigration site and it shows they are processing applications with the receipt date of April 2001. I have two questions. First, what do they mean by processing? What is it exactly going on during this processing? Second, after receiving initial notification that they have received my paper work I have not heard back. I call the 800 number and all I get is write us a letter and we will get back to you. Should I be expecting anything from immigration since they are processing April 2001? Any help from all of you would be greatly appreciated.

I 130 processing phase - during this phase not much done, just INS verify and establish relationship and whether she is eligible immigrant through Category F3.also your financial support.

Once I 130 is approved you will get notification and all the paper works goes to the National Visa Center for archiving (temporary archiving). Here the application will sleep (for your case atleast 5 years, now Jan 15, 1998 is the priority date). The rate of movement is 1: 3, to move one whole year 3 years required by INS , per current situation. Coming years it may increase. Currently all the centers are not going to process and approve any I 130 application until their priority dates are current.
