I received approval notice for I485 by e-mail. My i140 still pending. Please help!

Dear All,

I today received an e-mail from CRIS saying following:

"Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On February 6, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service."

I checked my wife's case online and her's still says Case is pending.

The weird thing is my I140 is still says case is pending.

Would you please tell me what it means? How is it possible I receive approval notice for i485 even before i140 is approved? Also, latest update to my i140 shows today's date but nothing has changed there.

Please tell me whether it means I am approved for green card. :confused::confused:

Your I-140 must have been approved. Contact your employer or lawyer to get the latest update. They should have a approved copy of your I-140.

I have already checked with lawyer. They have not received anything. We checked on uscis.gov and it says "case is pending". This is really weird. I hope what you are saying is true. I am so stressed out and cant wait to receive my card.
 
This is really weird. Did you have 2 I-140 applications ?
If you want to dig into it.... you can take InfoPass and find out from the local USCIS office about your I-140 status ?

They probably approved both the I-140 and I-485 today, that's why the lawyer hasn't received the I-140 approval notice yet. Wait a week or two and your employer should get the I-140 approval and you should get the green card or at least the I-485 approval notice.

(I assume you're talked to your employer's lawyer and not your own lawyer ... because only the employer's lawyer would get the I-140 approval notice, not your own lawyer).
 
Thank you for reply. I have contacted employer's lawyer. They have not received anything. I only got notice by e-mail today and checked online using receipt numbers. I485 says Approval was sent (only my receipt number. my wife's i485 is still pending. i wonder if she will also get it approved soon) and I140 says Case is pending. I guess those who supposed to update I140 status forgot to do so and those for I485 did it before I140 did.

I only had one I140 application. I will wait and see what I get in the mail regarding I485. My lawyer told me I may get both of them at the same time. Please pray for me.

What is your PD?
Is your PD current?
If PD is current then it seems they may have approved I-140 and I-485 same day. Wait few days for the notice.

My PD is September 22, 2004. So it is current for me. as visa bulletin shows it as May 2005.

I will keep my fingers crossed and just pray until I get my green card. This is a magic day.

I really appreciate for your answers as it morally helps a lot.:)
 
Hmm, from where you have PD if your I-140 is not approved yet? If you have PD than your I-140 is approved , I got my PD when my I-140 approved , my husband same.
 
My PD is September 2004 and Visa BUlletin shows as May 2005. I have applied for both i485 and i140 at the same time at Texas Service Center. For i140 receipt date is January 18, 2008 and for i485 receipt date is March 10, 2008. So it is weird that I got e--mail today with i485 approval notice but i140 is still shows as Case Pending. I read some other forums and there some some people exactly same situation. they got approval notice and even card but no i140 approval notice and their i140 still says their case is pending. I am paranoid. I can not even sleep now....i really want to get my card after waiting for sooooo long time.

Thanks so much. I wish everything worked properly at USCIS so when we got our first news we could scream and just be happy.

So, if i get card ordered message, does it mean I should not worry about I140? You think I will get approval for that as well? Do they usually come in one mail or they send everything separately?
 
The 3 mailings are separate: I-140 approval notice, I-485 approval notice, green card.

The employer should be getting the I-140 approval notice soon, and you'll get the other 2.
 
Finally!

Today I received two separate e-mail. One is i140 approval! :)) and the second one says Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident. What a great feeling. finally!.

Me and my wife applied together. My wife's LUD on her i1485 has changed twice. First on February 6, when I got my approval notice and then second time today when I got notice above. it now shows today's date. My concern is that her i1485 still says Case is pending. Should we worry about it at all? Do you think her status also will change to Approval notice sent etc? Would appreciate any thought on this.

Most of the spouse cases are pending. My GC got approved in 07/2007. My wife's still pending and it's been 7 years since I applied for my labor. I don't know what the hell wrong with them, keeping dependent's 485. I have applied for AP for 4th time. I stopped applying EAD after 5th time. I am really tired of this. It came almost 10K for both of us GC process and still one case is pending!!!!

USCIS wants revenue in billions. I wouldn't be surprised, they may approve gc for 10K after couple of years.
