I got laid off and wife's I-485 is still pending

I got my Green Card in Aug,2007 but my wife's I-485 is pending due to priority date availability. Last week I got laid off by the employer who sponsored my greencard and do not know when I will get another job. What happens to my dependent I-485 status? Any problem if I apply for her AP renewal?

if her I-485 is pending then she can apply AP and EAD based on her Pending I-485 and it has nothing to do with your GC.

can't USCIS request current information about primary applicant before approving the dependent 485 case?

Not for an AP application. And rarely for the I-485, since the I-485 regards the applicant only and nobody else. Only if the primary is denied will the derivative be jeopardized. This is not the case here.

You are the primary applicant and your green card was already approved, so getting laid off will not affect the dependent I-485. Your wife can continue to renew her AP and EAD, and you do not need to get another job to keep her I-485 alive.

But if you become a citizen before her I-485 is approved, her I-485 will be denied.
