If the job/area of work is in your home country's skill list, then you will be subjected to the rule. In my opinion, you don't have a choice.
Good luck!

hello

you can go to australia even if you dont serve HRR however you cannot apply for a visa to the USA again in the future if the HRR has not been served in your home country.

is your interview over yet ?

what were the questions asked ? :)

I am a J1 holder too, but as far as I am concerned 2 year HRR applies to working in the US. My husband is F1, therefore, I applied for the change of status to F2. I don't know about the decision yet, hence, I am not working anywhere to have a profit.

Good luck anyways!

HRR applies in many cases: skills list, govt financing, medical education.

HRR doesn't have anything to do with you go to Australia for training. It simply precludes you from changing status in the US, getting a GC or a work visa. Other visas are allowed (F-1, B1/2, etc.). So, Virgin doesn't really know what HRR is.
