Hi! i'm new to this site, so sorry i'm posting in the wrong area. i hope someone can explain the entire process of getting a green card.
I'm a pharmacist in Washington who started with the application in 2001. I noticed most people on this board are doing more tech related work, so i'm not sure if that would make a difference. My lawyer isn't helpful in explaining ANYTHING. In fact, they get angry if we ask too many questions. They won't even tell us what our priority date is.
I noticed may other posters use abbreviations such as PD, RIR, LUD, etc. Could anyone clarify those for me? and where would i find my dates/info? My lawyer has us in the dark, so i'm not even sure which step i'm at now. I *think* i'm at the i-485 step and my priority date is april 2002. two years ago, they had told us we would have the green card "very soon". I still haven't had the fingerprinting done nor have i been contacted in the last 2 years! should i worry?
please help! thanks!!

You can find many of the answers you seek by searching these forums. At the very least I would consider changing lawyers.

-------PD= Priority Date( the date LC was deceived by SWA or SESA (DOL) RIR is process to file LC. LUD= Last Update from USCIS you will see that only if you have created account visiting USCIS Case tracking with your receipt information.
and where would I find my dates/info?

------------- lawyer knows about your PD as he filed the LC you can ask your employer he can ask the lawyer

My lawyer has us in the dark, so I’m not even sure which step I’m at now. I *think* I’m at the i-485 step and my priority date is April 2002.

------------- if YOU have filed I-485 then you are pending I-485 ask the lawyer for I-485 filing receipt. I-485 belongs to YOU not to employer or lawyer. You can hire your lawyer and he can get you your I-485 filing receipts if the lawyer refuse to give you.

Thanks for all the info!! i finally got a brief answer from the lawyer... she says my i-140 was approved and now i'm just waiting for priority date to become available since my file is at the National Visa Center. she says i have a Montreal case number, but she didn't tell me what the number is. is there a way of tracking the status at this point? is this part waiting for the i-485 to be approved?
