I am on H4 Visa can i get EAD card

Hi ,

I am on H4 visa. i want to apply for EAD.can i apply for an EAD card and if so then what is the procedure.Can anyone help me with regards to this.Also if i get the EAD card will my status of H4 be over.

If i cannot apply for EAD card then what are the options for an H4 in the US.

If you are on H4 without I-485 application pending, you can not apply for EAD.
There is no option for H4 to obtain EAD at this moment and only thing you can try is applying for H1 in Oct 2007 if you are qualified.
 
What is I-485
