Hi,

I am about to file my N-400 in first week of april 2010. I have started filing my and my wife/kids application. I have 3 more weeks to go and then I am ready to sail. It is excitement and at the same time worry also.

Hope that the things go smooth for me. keeping finger crossed.

Planning to go for passport photos next week.

All the best who are waiting and getting ready to file.

The forum is great and I feel good after reading the good experiences of the people during the process.

thanks to every one.

Thanks WBH. It is daughter. My son is 15.

A unrelated question:

PR Children under 18 automatically become citizens when parents take oath.
Is there a precodnition that they be unmarried? If not, do children-in-law
also becoem citizens?

I am sailing in the same boat. Will file next week. I have two sons 18 and 16. The 18 year old does not yet have Selective services registration; So I am filing my wife and myself first.

I am too excited, but very careful.

All the best Setu.
If you dont mind sharing when you are completing 5 year of GC? I am completing in End June. So 90 days before, I have to apply in april begining.
My worry is if USCIS is very fast in processing the application, I dont want to receive the interview before 5 years completion.

thanks

Indirectly yes, because the children must be living in the custody of the naturalized parent in order to derive citizenship like that, and anybody who gets married is no longer under the custody of any parent, even if they are still under 18.

5th Anniversary falls mid of June 2010. You are right. I have been doing some research and have decided that I am not going to rush up. Because, looks like, if I sent the application 90 days earlier, the interview is likely to scheduled before 90 days, so end up with an interview date that will be before the Anniversary. So I will probably apply around 10 to 15th of April. Current processing time in Dallas is 4 weeks for FP, 2 weeks to transfer file and a month for interview in Atlanta. This means less than 3 months for the whole process. Are you applying out of Atlanta area?

So what if your interview is early? You'll just wait to be approved. Also, have your son register for the Selective Service. I think you can do it online, and it's easy.

The problem is that if they cancel your interview or postpone the decision because of an early interview, you could end up with an unpredictably long wait for another interview date or oath letter. So being interviewed 2 weeks after the GC anniversary is often better than being interviewed 2 weeks before it.

Naturalization thru marriage to a US citizen

Hi everyone:)

I am married to a US citizen, I got my first conditional green card on March 12, 2008, the non conditional permanent one on March 10, 2010. When am I eligible to file my N-400 as a spouse of a US citizen? is it Dec 12, 2010 or March 12, 2011?

Pease take time and read USCIS guide and N-400 instructions. They have all answers...i hope you are not making decision when to file solely based on what you hear in this forum,,,

Thanks DreamUSA!
I got the answer quickly on the second link you posted. For those who are wondering, this is the answer:
"If you are applying based on five years as a LawfulPermanent Resident or based on three years as aLawful Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you may apply for naturalization up to 90 days beforeyou meet the ''continuous residence'' requirement."
so Dec 12, 2010 in my case
