Hi guys,
I returned to US from COP yesterday January 12, 2007 at 3:30 thru JFK airport in NYC. The immigration officer asked only one question.
Immigration Officer1:What was the purpose of your travel?
Freedoms12: To visit my mother
Immigration officer: Welcome back
He looked at my GC and NP and sent me to bring a red packet containing my passport and GC to another officer in a room
Immigration officer2: Mr.Freedoms12 are still in School? The same University?
Freedoms12: Yes, Sir
Immigration officer2: You are sent because our system shows that you violated SEVIS law. This is a mistake. You have to contact SEVIS and let them know that you are no longer reqested to register with them. You are PR now. Welcome Sir.

This is my experience

Sevis is another service of USCIS that is charged to control international students admission. Every international student who got admission in the US is registered by Sevis service.

Ice is under homeland security if i am correct. USCIS DHS..same thing
Yes, both is under DHS, but ICE and USCIS are different department with their own director.
If you go to USCIS office to talk about SEVIS problem, they will turn you back.

I am back from COP too (AS6) without any problem

I am back from COP too (AS6) without any problem. The only question asked was " How long you have been there?".
