I-94 problem

Hello Gurus,

Here's my situation. I went for a vacation to india
and came back in june, 2004. At the Port of Entry, the immigration officer saw that my passport was expiring
in july, 2004. But I have the visa valid till end of 2005.
She said that since my PP is expiring, she can issue I-94 only till my PP expiry date. I gathered that this is pretty
normal and correct. She said after I get my PP renewed
I can visit immigration.gov (USCIS) and get my I-94
extended. Now I have given my PP for renewal with the
indian consulate and waiting for it. Here is my question,

1. After I get my PP, can I visit the local USCIS office to get my I-94 extended ? Will they do it without filing any application or fees ?
2. Should I have to go out of the country (possibly to
mexico) and re-enter so that at the POE, they give me
a new I-94 valid till my visa expiry date ?
3. Should I file I-102 form (which has a fees of $155) to
get my I-94 extended/corrected ?

Which of the above option is the best one ?
I checked the forums and couldn't find the correct answer
to my problem. I would appreciate if anyone had faced
this problem and got it corrected.

Thank you.

---- you can try,
2. Should I have to go out of the country (possibly to
mexico) and re-enter so that at the POE, they give me

-----that will be OK, and they will give you new I-94
3. Should I file I-102 form (which has a fees of $155) to
get my I-94 extended/corrected ?
---- you can file that but it takes time , Mexico or Canada trip is much better and keep your both the expired and New passports Stapled in future
Which of the above option is the best one ?
