I-90 - changing GC to married name. How long until I get my new card?

I went in for my biometrics appointment to the office in Newark on March 25th. Can anyone tell me when I should expect to receive my new card, and also should I get a letter in the mail to say its on its way? So far I havn't received anything since I day of the biometrics appointment!

I'm really frustrated because I need to book flights to Ireland for the middle of June and I don't know whether to book them in my married name or my maiden name. I still have my original GC in my maiden name should I just go ahead and book under this name? Will my old card immediatley become invalid as soon as my new one is sent out or is there a grace period that I can use it for?

Also, if my new card does come I need to get a new passport in my married name so I really am running out of time. Aghhh!!

Anyone else file their I-90 in Newark, and if so how long did you wait?

your post is missing some info:
did you file I-90 local office Newark?
when?

Local USCIS office stoped accepting I-90 in 2005.
Because at this time one can only file with Service center or with LA lock box or can Efile
if you send I-90 to service center you need to send your CARD to service center. if you efile then you got notice for biometrics appointment and that time they take your Old Card.
I dont know your full details
FYI flight tickets are booked on the base of passport info and you need GC to enter US at US airport

if you have the same name on passport and GC I dont see any problems for booking tickets.

sorry, i didn't explain that very well...

I filed my I-90 electronically on October 26th 2005 and received a fingerprint notice for the Application support center in Newark for November 25th 2005. However I couldn't make that day so had to re-schedule. My new appointment was for March 25th 2006 which I went to and had my photo and fingerprints taken. THey never took my current card though and said I could use this until my new GC with my married name arrives.

What I'm looking to find out is if anyone else had their fingerprints done at this center in Newark to change biographic info and if so how long did it take to receive your new card?

The other thing I am trying to find out is, if I go ahead and book a flight to Ireland under my maiden name(which I have my passport and current GC in) what happens if my new card is issued while I am away(I am goin for 6 weeks!). I mean, will I still be able to re-enter the US on my old GC at this time or will it immediately become in-active therefore making me unable to re-enter?
