I-9 forms required, question, help!

Hi!

I'm a student currently on an F1 visa. I graduate very quickly and going to be applying for OPT in a couple of days. In the mean while, I have several freelance job opportunities and want to work for these people so as to push my career. I have a valid Social Security number.

The jobs I work require me to fill in an I-9 form. I was planning to fill in the I-9 form with my I-94 number, passport and social security number.

How big of a risk am I taking? Will I ever get caught? What will be the consequences? Any and all information will be helpful.

At which point their HR will ask you for your work authorization. What will you do then?

what are they going to ask me for?

These are 1-day free lance jobs, so from my understanding, it's fill in the I-9 and that's that. right?

and as proof, they're going to ask to some documentation, at which point, i'll show them my passport with the i-94 card and visa in it?

You have a Social Security card that say valid for work with USCIS Authorization, right? They'll want to see an EAD.

An F-1 as I understand it is not work authorization on its own.
