I-864 question

Hi,

I'm 23 years old, still in college trying to file a petition for alien relative for my mother.

I'm pretty much done filling out both I-130 and I-485, but I'm stuck with I-864.

Since I'm a student I do not make enough money to meet the financial requirements to sponsor an alien relative.

But I've read the instructions carefully and found out that my mother's assets can count towards the financial requirement. (5 times the 125% of the poverty line)

Has anyone filed I-864 the way I am intending to do?

Is there any disadvantage of this way of filing I-864?

What do you mean disadvantages? You can not file the traditional way.

That is correct. Assets can be shown to fulfill I-864 requirements.
