I-797 from mail in TN approval

Having a disagreement with my Contract Company they believe giving me a copy of the I-797 is OK. All my other mail-in TN extensions I've received the original. Does it matter? I am going to be crossing the border in 2 weeks I want to make sure I'm not going to screw myself when re-entering the US

You should have the original I-94 portion. This is in the instructions of the I-797:

The petitioner will keep the upper portion of this notice. The lower portion should be given to the worker. He or she should keep the right part with his or her Form I-94 ...
Most officers will also staple in the 'information' portion (the left half of the tear-off) in your Passport.

The rest can be a copy (in fact, you don't need any of the rest).

Thanks Nelson;
I'm just not having a great time with this contract company. They're insisting they keep the complete original as they are the "petitioner". They say they've sent "it" via snail mail without specifying what "it" actually is. Too much stress for too little return on this contract.
