We received the I-751 receipt / extension letter today. However, I have two questions:

1. Is the one-year extension expiration date, one-year from the receipt date on the letter or one-year from the expiration date on the card?

2. When using the letter for travel, do you need the original received in the mail or can you use a copy?

A1: One year from the expiration of the 2 year GC
A2: Original

1. Is the one-year extension expiration date, one-year from the receipt date on the letter or one-year from the expiration date on the card?

2. When using the letter for travel, do you need the original received in the mail or can you use a copy?

Thanks for your reply.

One more question that I have thought of since I made my original post.

Does other countries that have special entry provisions for GC holders, like Canada, accept the letter with the expired GC so that the GC holder can enter on the special entry requirements, or would it be advised that the GC holder get their passport stamped?

Canadian immigration staff are well versed with this extension letter and an accompanying expired GC. I cannot say the same for other countries.
