I-730 still pending - H-1B Approved

Dear Forum Members,

My son's I-730 is pending for final approval since Sep 2005. However, in mean while he applied for H-1B which got approved in 2008.
The last reply I had received for his I-730 was that it is in pre adjudication stage. When asked again about the current status I received e mail from NSC that an inquiry has been initiated to find out the reasons for delay in adjudicating his I-730.

I am now very much confused what this means? Can any one understand this situation? I will appreciate comments.

I would get the H-1B. I believe the I-730 (whenever it is approved) is not invalidated by virtue of getting another non-immigrant status in the US.

Thanks for ur input. Do u think the approval oh his H1B may do some thing with the delay in his approval of I-730? I am asking this because very recently his approval of I-730 was very close because they said security cleared and will be adjudicated soon but now after his approval of H1B they say the iquiry ordered to see reason for delay in adjudicating his I-730.
It looks to me they might have sent his immigration file to some other office dealing with approval of H1b and now they are waiting for return of his file. This is just my guess.

Not sure about your specific case. I just offered an opinion as to what I would do if I were in that situation...
 
It is highly unusual for an I-730 applicant to have an H1B visa pending as well. So my guess is that the officers are confused by this.

Thank u for ur comments. As a matter of fact my son had applied for H1b in April 2008, while his I-730 is pending. His H1B got approved and he is now working for company since 1st Oct 2008. However, we have not yet got any decision on his I-730 which is pending since Sep 2005.
Do u think his approval of H1B will have any negative effect on his pending I-730?
