I was an F1 student and now fallen out of status. It's been 6 months since my mom filled an I-730 for me (filed on september 08, 2010). The texas service center has a 5 month average processing time. Should I start calling and emailing them or is it too soon?

You might have got stuck in the name check process or your mom might be affected by 212(a)(3)(b).

It is time for you to call and find out why your case is still pending.

You would be the beneficiary, so mom as the petitioner must make any inquiry.

Where you under 21 and unmarried when she filed for asylum or was classified as a refugee? If you were in the U.S. why were you not included? You seem to have a strange situation and have not provided much detail. You probably have other issues to deal with even if you don't realize it.
