I-485 Marriage certificate RFE

Hello Forum,

We have received an RFE for my Husband asking for Marriage Certificate.

I am the primary in our GC processes. Since we both came to USA on our own H1's we do not have a Marriage Certificate.
We had submitted a marriage certificate that we got made from Indian consulate in Huston.
But apparantly this certificate is not sufficient to INS.

Please suggest some alternatives. Can we submit some affidavits the way we do for lack of birth certificates.

We are also in the same situation now.
We also got an RFE for marriage.
Applied for Marriage certificate Indian Consulate, SFO.
I am worried that USCIS wont accept this one.
How did you manage this?. Did you make affidavit?
Do you have sample format?
Appreciate if you can provide some info.

If you got married in India then you need to get marriage certificate from registrar of marriage. Your parents can talk to any lawyer in India. He will give 2 forms for marriage certificate. Your relative can send you the forms and you both have to sign and send it back so that he gives it to lawyer and then lawyer will take the sign of witness. Lawyer will also make 2 affidavits and let your parents get that affidavits and mail it to you with forms and then lawyer will submit the forms and affidavit in registrar of marriage and can get marriage certificate same day (if he gives “chai pani” to clerk in registrar office)
I don’t know place of your marriage in India, I can give more tips if marriage was in village, town or city like Mumbai or Delhi
