I-485 approved while abroad and entered the US on H-1B

My I-485 was approved while I was abroad for. I was not aware of it and entered US on H-1B. After I was back, I found green card in my mailbox. Does using H-1B make my green card invalid? If yes, what should I do now? I got a new I-94 which will expire on May 2012. What should I do with the I-94?

I would like to ask USCIS directly but I could not find the email address or phone number to ask these questions. I couldn't find the appropriate email address from the USCIS website. Nor could I find a proper person to ask the questions after calling National Customer Service Center. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

You have Green Card, just update your Employer and go to Social Security office with Green Card so that they can update the records and SSA will send you new Social Security Card without restrictions

*** if one is out of US with valid H1 Visa or Valid AP one can be admitted to US even if his/her GC got approved while person was out of US.

You should be OK

You should be OK, with H1 visa, you can travel out of US while the I-485 is pending (and get approved).

If you have a valid H or L visa or status, such as H-1B, H-4, L-1A, L-1B, L-2, you are free to travel at any time during the I-485 permanent residence process. However, if you are on some other type of visa or status, such as F, O, J, and B visa or status, there are often restrictions on travel, and the Advance Parole is required.
