Hi
I received email notification last night that my (and my wife's) I-485 have
been approved and that cards have been ordered.
My question is: I am scheduled to travel out of the country next week
for ~45 days. This is an unavoidable and long planned business trip to Europe. Assuming that the physical GC does not arrive before I leave, can I
still travel (and return) on advance parole (as I had originally intended to)?
Or is that not safe and I absolutely should wait until I have the physical GC
in hand before leaving the country.
A related question: is it okay if the GC is mailed to me in Europe and I then use it to return to the US? Or do I need the GC in my possession when I LEAVE the US?
It might be of interest to some of you that I filed under EB-2/NIW/India and
hence was impacted by visa retrogression. Fortunately, I was able to
convince USCIS to proceed with my case under visa cross chargeability
rules. (Visa retrogression hit well after my wife and I had filed our 485's.)
Thanks very much for your help!
