I-485 Approval and change of address

I recently moved and it turns out that my I-485 was approved at the same time. I have already filled out an electronic AR-11 online and updated pending petitions. My question is the following:

I am now waiting for USCIS to send me my green card in the mail. How can I be sure that by filling out the AR-11 online they are in fact going to send it to my new address?

Also, do we get another notice saying "Your card has been sent"? How many days after getting the I-485 approval notice do they send out the green card?

The main problem I had is that USPS is forwarding all my mail to my new address and I didn't know that USCIS does not forward mail.

Thanks,

Call USCIS so you can get hold of second level customer service person. Search the forum if you don't know how to use the combination. It was POJ method.

They should be able to confirm your address on file. I don't have any personal experience with online change of address. Different combination has happened for different folks:

Approval Notice Sent
Card Production Ordered
Card Mailed

There's no set time in which USCIS will send you the card but usually within few days from approval to a week or so.

Called USCIS but they won't confrim my address over the phone

How can I speak to a second level customer service person. I need to know if they are going to mail my green card to the right address. Is there anyway someone can confirm for me over the phone the correct address?

Thanks,

i think u better call USCIS to confirm ur address.....i changed my address and received an acknowledgment mail confirming the receipt of my new address frm USCIS. all this happened b4 the approval of my case. to my astonishment, all my correspondence was still sent to my old address and was returned by de post office. i had to call in again for my card to be redirected to my new address. as of tday i never received any welcome notice, approval notice and anything else which were all returned to uscis. dont really care cos i gat the the card which is more important to me.:D good luck

If the only thing that you filed was AR-11, your GC would still goto the old address. You need to go online (https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa) and either call USCIS or update address online for each and every application that's pending. AR-11 is not linked to any pending application, so any changes made via AR-11 do not get automatically reflected onto them.

It can take from 3-4 days to 2 weeks to receive the actual card... a week being typical time frame after the approval notice email. USPS does not forward USCIS mails. So I'd recommend you request the manager of the old place to keep your mails and you have them collected.

You moved in a very critical time with very high possibility for the GC to go to old address. It is pain to get GC in the new address if this happened.
