I-485 Approval after layoff > 180 days

Hello there
I had some questions. One of my friend\'s EB I-485 is approved a couple of days back. But he got laid off in 2nd week of Nov \'01, when I-485 was pending for more than 180 days. He is expecting an offer from new employer very soon.

1. If he goes to INS office for passport stamping; what will happen since he is not working presently. Will the passport be stamped?

2. Should he wait until he gets the new employment letter in hand and then goto the local INS office for stamping.

3. In the 2nd case he still has no pay stub from new employer; as he will be joining early next year. How INS will react to this situation.

4. If for any reason, INS does not stamp his passport; does this mean that I-485 approval becomes null & void. i.e First it is approved and later on it is disapproved.

5. Also if the passport stamping is denied; does this mean his whole green card process is denied.

Any ideas on these will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Obviously, somebody who was deported will not be here to give a first hand experience, so you ahve to settle for my arm chair opinion.
1. If I485 is approved, generally they do not ask questions about employment while stamping. See the stamping experience posts in this forum.

2. He can. IMHO not necessary

3. Employment offer letter is enough proof.

4. Yes.
5. IF denied , Yes. But he will have time to appeal.
