Well my wife and I thought we were having the fastest I-485 processing ever until recently. Here's what's happened...

March 3rd: filed all papers I-485 + I-130
1 week later get notice for biometrics
1 week after biometrics taken, get notice for interview - set for April 21st at San Antonio Office.

Went for interview which went very very well *except* first set of fingerprints were rejected as unclassified. (Incredibly, the FBI name check had apparently come back already!!). So officer gave us a new form and I went to get fingerprints taken again that very afternoon.

He told us that if the fingerprints come back cleared by the following Friday that we can expect green card in mail within 2 weeks after that but he couldn't approve us there and then due to this fingerprint issue.

So we think oh well let's wait.

Which is what we've done since. Wait wait wait. No approval/denial letters. No green card, no nothing. It's all very frustrating and causing so much anxiety. Our lawyer said that the 2nd set of fingerprints came back cleared in the system by May 8th but he can't find anything else out about the case either.

So we made an infopass apt. to go down tomorrow and find out what's happening with our case because web site and 1-800 number all say same thing everyday for last 7-8 weeks.

We also got out local state representative to inquire for us using their liason. Today, the state rep called us and said that the im. office couldn't give them any info on the case because the file was no longer at that office!

So what does this mean? Does this mean they lost our file??? Does this mean we have to file a new I-485 and start all over again and pay the fees over again? Or does it mean that the files have to be sent somewhere else so they can complete processing and issue the green card?

This is ridiculous... there appears to be no other reasons why they should delay approving our case and issuing a green card since May 8th. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem here? We're going out of our minds with anxiety and worry!

----------- Did you provide correct I-485 reciept # to local state representative ? if yes then "May be" the file got trasfred to service center after approval( may be FP got cleared). I am confused why the local office did not update your ocal state representative office that the file is trassfred or may be representative office did NOT ask more info on the case
Visit the Local office where you went for interview and ask for the info.

I wanted to give an update on this just in case anyone is in a similar situation...

We went to the infopass appointment today and were told that the adjudicating officer had approved the I-485 and sent it to national records service so that g.c. can be produced. That is the good news.

The bad news is that because we got our state representative involved on Friday, the file is now on its way back to San Antonio for the congressional inquiry. So, g.c. production will be several weeks longer *and* because the file is in transit, the officer we saw today couldn't stamp my passport.

So, my advice to anyone in similar position: try infopass first before anything else!!
