Which is a better travel documet for a LPR who got his status through asylum status? 327 (White Reentry Permit)
or 571 Blue RTD. In terms of app fees, validity term, and all toher things considered.

To save time and money,i would obviously go with the re-entry permit which is renewable every two yrs.

GC

When you have the GC (plastic) Do you need re-entry permit? I understand the RTD to trave abroad if you don't have a national passport, but isn't the GC itself enough to comeback?

You need a passport to enter most countries. Both the RP and the RTD can serve as passports. Also, RP is mandatory if you leave the US for more than one year.

Gilbert, does canada require a passport? or RTD? in addition to the green card?

I do not think Canada does. But most countries in the world do.
