I-20 Status after OPT application

What is the I-20 Status after application for a "Pre-completion OPT"? Pre-Completion OPT is the OPT applied when all the coursework is complete except Thesis/Dissertation. My school cancelled my I-20 when I applied for a pre-completion OPT.
Does anyone have any idea?
 
adding to my above question..
what would happen if my OPT is denied. I would now be out of status since my I-20 has expired, wont be able to apply for graduation because of expired I-20 and would have to go back to my country within 60 days without a degree.
what does a person do in such a situation?
 
what do you mean - they cancelled your I-20????

They are supposed to extend the I-20 to cover OPT period, if you applied for OPT before your I-20 expired.
