Hi all,

Today I received an email stating that the I-130 for my step daughter who is living in Brazil was approved and I wanted to know if someone could lay out for me what is next and what to expect? My wife received her green card in march and now we are just waiting to get her daughter here who is only 5 years old. Please help me. Thank you in advance!

Within the next few weeks or months you will be contacted about providing the Affidavit of Support (I-864), and the consulate will contact somebody in Brazil (whoever is living at the Brazilian address you gave on the I-130) about the DS-230 and related paperwork for her.

NVC will contact you and will want a fee for affidavit (?$88) and the required evidence (your most recent IRS tax transcript--easy to get from IRS, check on it ASAP) and for a "agent" to be chosen (they send a form for that).

Do this 10 Business days from now.

1. Call NVC and give your USCIS reciept number and update your and beneficiary's email address for faster communication and delivery of all documents through the process, allowing 10 business days will ensure that they have recieved paperwork from USCIS and have assigned a case number for further processing.

2. You will get instruction to register your case via email and how to pay the affidavit of support fee online with the state department, once you pay the affidavit of support fee online and it clears your bank ( 2 to 3 bussiness days ) you will be able to print the cover letter needed to send with the affidavit of support, while you are working through these steps contact IRS now to get a official transcript of your taxes ready to send with the AOS.

3. Once your AOS has been reviewed and accepted ( 10 Business days usually ) you will get an email to pay the Immigrant Visa fee bill on DOS website, once again that will take 2-3 business days to clear your bank allowing you to print the cover letter to send with DS-230. Once the DS-230 is recieved and reviewed alongwith required documents you will get a final email from NVC with a future interview date within 30-45 days of that email in Brazil.
