I-130 for mother but not father

Initially I applied I-130 for both my parents. Half way through the process my father bailed out and said he did not want to go through with because he has heart problem and long trips is dangerous to his health and we should apply for him in few years.

My mother application was completed and her interview date is set already.

My fear is that during the interview she will be asked why her husband is not joining her. My mother and father are not that close and he will be more than happy to stay with me.

Does any one know if CG was approved if I-130 applied for one them only?

Thanks

Of course. Since each is being petitioned by you, there is no obligation that both of them immigrate.

US citizen's parents must have 2 separate cases. If one of them decides to discontinue the process, that shouldn't effect the other one. So, your mother can come alone if that's what she wants.
