I-130 and Wife is Overseas...did I just drop my oars?

Hey guys:

I met my wife while working abroad...we got a wild hair and got married (what can I say - fools in love)...but she is still in Sweden and we are waiting on our favorite people at USCIS.

Filed I-130 early Nov 2007 to TSC (thats where they told me to send it)
They finally sent me back a reciept late January from VSC
...now...I guess I can either wait for the I-130 to go through...or go for the K-3, end around.

I have not filed a 485...but I have the paperwork pretty much together so I can send it when the Visa people ask for it...but jeez...I hate waiting like this!

We both hate having to bop back and forth overseas every 2 months (I visit...she visits...)

Thoughts? Comments? Razzes about my stupidity?

The faster process may have been through the US embassy in Sweden, where she could have applied for an immigrant visa. Sometimes, it only takes a couple of months to get an immigrant visa, while filing with USCIS, it will take at least 6 months for the petition to get approved. But since you already filed I-130 with USCIS, I don't think you can apply at the embassy as well. I would apply for K-3 now.

consulates in some countries allow direct consular filing. It was abandoned at some point, but then resurrected.

I don't believe they can anymore. Under the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act, I-130 applicants must undergo a criminal background check, which only USCIS can do.

OK, I checked, and for my country, it is still possible to file I-130 through the US embassy and obtain an immigrant visa.
