My husband's case was transferred to Boston on 08/10/04 to schedule an interview, but as of today mine is still in Vermont. Is there anything we can do in advance? Because I've read in this forum some cases where people go to the interview with family members but they only interview the ones who have the letter. Is there anything I can do?
Please help!!!!

Each I485 case is treated as a seperate case and it is not mandatory that if Husband's case is called for an interview that they call wife too. Generally it is a practice that they process both Husband and Wife's case together along with all family members, but it is not the case always!

Don't worry as you can do nothing much here and if your Husband case gets approved then your case will have more chances of getting straight approval provided if your status is legal and CIS has all other essential necessary documents like FP results, Medical and Birth certifciate etc.

heard different thing from immigration officer

When I was at the Boston office trying to renew my EAD I asked the officer about my I-485 case that was still in Vermont but my husbands has been transferred to Boston for interview, and she gave us a fax number and told us we should request to transfer my case along with my husband since I'm riding along in his case. So what should I do? I don't want to compromise anything that could happen...what is the best for me to do?

If you have been told to request to transfer your case along with your husband case, then you should go ahead immediately and draft a letter and fax it to the number. But write them clearly what you are requesting for briefly and give them your Husband and yours immigration details so that they can verify. You can also call the local Congressman/Senator to help you in this regard and also call the NCSC 1800 number and raise an enquiry through them too.

You dont have to worry too much, since your husband's case is the primary and yours is the dependent one.
My case was approved last month (after 2 FPs)...but my wife hasnt even recvd her first FP notice. Her case is still pending.
What i meant to say is...its automatic approval for the dependent if the primary's case is approved (unless there are unforeseen issues). It may be delayed..but that is no reason to panic.

Received fingerprint notice

We both received second fingerprint schedule for 10/09/04 at the Boston office. What is the normal procedure now? When will we receive interview schedule?

Thank you for your inputs.

Renata,

You will receive an interview notice soon (depends on local office's processing time). It can take up to a year (it should not take longer than a year). Sometimes it can be sooner and faster (like 1 month). Interview notice will instruct you what you should bring, but I suggest you bring everything because sometimes they asked for something that was not on the list of things on interview notice letter.

My case was tranferred to Baltimore and got my interview letter in 3 months. so please prepare to gather all documents and ready for the interview. My spouse's case was not transferred. I got my green card approval after my interview. My spouse didn't get any interview or transfer.. just got an I-485 approval. Like needhelp1 said, each I485 case is treated as a seperate case and it is not mandatory that if Husband's case is called for an interview that they call wife, but you can call BCIS office or you can fax as they told you to request via fax. It won't harm you. You have rights to find out.

However, I am sure both of you will be approved. Don't worry.

Good luck. :)

Of course the ASCs work on Saturdays. They are private contractors, not part of the US government. :) If you are getting an FP notice then your interview should be scheduled soon, around 10-14 days after the FP you should get your notice.

Received Interview letter

Hi guys,
Just wanted to share... we did receive our interview letter scheduled for Feb.2005. We had our medical done 2 years ago, do we need to do it again? Also anybody could tell me what paperwork, documents I should have with me?

Thank you all,

Renata

The interview letter should explain what you need to bring.

Also, take a peek at my "Atlanta Local Office Processing" thread in the VSC transfers forum. It's a long thread, but around the June or July timeframe you should see a post from me that explains everything you will need.

Can't speak to the medicals. Generally, if the letter doesn't ask for new ones, you should be fine.
