How will you celebrate after you get your Green Card ?

I know this might be off topic. Thought this will break the monotony we are all going through and cheer ourselves a bit.

All our lives revolve around this piece of document. Amid all our trials and tribulations I thought I will pose this question to all of us.

Can you think of how we will celebrate that momentous occasion when we get our GCs. It will be an interesting read to share. List your actions on what you will do the day you get the green card.

I for one will perhaps take the day off........ drive out of the city, find a high spot and let out a BIGG scream.

I would go to vegas, book a suite for a week and gamble the f*** out and party like there is no tomorrow.

indio0617,

You pose an interesting question. My case history with the USCIS has been very bad. My case has been abused for almost 2 years now (wrong TRX, lost applications, multiple FPs and RFEs and now retrogression). Last year I used to think of the ways I would celebrate when I got the GC but after all this mess and the continuing uncertainty those thoughts have long dissappeared. The joy that I would have felt has already been killed by the treatment I have gotten at the hands of lawyers, company HR and the USCIS. This GC journey has been such that the end destination has ceased to matter. Getting the GC is not going to make me forget this treatment.

The only thing the GC is going to do at this point is help me gain back my selfrespect and dignity.

regards,

Saras i totally agree with that sentiment actually. Our hopes, dreams and enthusiasm and zeal have been literally CRUSHED to the core by these retrogression issues. Everyday 1000s of brilliant ppl like us are dying slow mental deaths thanks to this Green Card process.

I will remove gray hair from head, mustache, , , , and and and ...(yes I have gray hair there too. :D ) and bury it with copy of all the postings on this forum .... :D :D :D

Akbari, at least you have hair left for that. I am losing mine everyday because of this sickness :D :D

jeez guys!! I appreciate ur enthusiasm. Right now, with so much goin on, I honestly can't even think of a way to celebrate. A sad state, but true :-(

Anyway, first thing i would do is to post the GC received message here and get congratulated by everyone :D

I would walk like an egyptian :) , talk like british with less movement of upper lip  , dance like latino and sleep like a buffalo. ....

Trying to think what will i be worrying then.. as i am quite used to worrying ... gosh .. you made me thinking again... :p

Dear GC seeker,

Could not resist replying to your mail.

During my Ph.D days I came across a great scientist who told me "As you go through life you just exchange one set of insecurities for another". At that time I thought.... What CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

Now I realize the true meaning of what he said.

Besides I have always been an eternal worrier..............so according to somebody if I have nothing to worry about I will start worrying whether tomorrow the sun will rise in the east or not.

This GC thing is eating all of us mentally as well as physically. Hopefully all this waiting will lead us to something good.

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless us all....

I would take a mini retirement for 6 months, come back and will have the American Dream in my pocket few years later. All this time that I am wasting in the corporate America, all this anger is in a way helping me... cause once I get that damn plastic card then there will be no stopping me!!! :p

just an fyi: I went to the link for the same discussion from 2003, most of those ppl have already received their GC's.

What share after GC

I will try to get another GC from another country....and start this type of postings on some other website.....I cannot live without looking into this forum everyday and worrying about my GC.

I will not be defeated (sounds Bush !) in my pursuit for another GC...may be Australia/Canada/NZ/England (by the way I prefer the longest and time consuming GC).

Also I will donate $10 to some republican fund.

And finally, I will have 2-3 Green Cards....and I will think of settling in India for good.

LOL! Keep it up dude!

Small mercies ...... celebration = end of frustration ......

There is an old saying in India - The pleasure of getting married at age 20 is lost when you get married at 40.

In other words ....... when something gets delayed beyond a point, it loses its charm.

The 180 day rule for use of AC-21 is based on the USCIS' own yardstick of 6 months being an "adequate" duration of time to process an AoS. Most folks have waited longer than that during "normal" times. And now we have retrogression added to the mix .......

I guess when I finally receive my LPR, it will just bring a sense of relief. No celebration .... no champagne ......

And certainly no removal of gray hair - Akbari, that was information overload, dude !! :p

Cheers !!
