How to renew dependent's passport

My child's passport expired after 5 years and needed to be renewed. If i send request for renewal at my COP consulate then i need to provide proof of my child's legal status. There is nothing stamped on passport.I don't know what to do.
Now i have my GC but she is still an asylee. What should i do?
Why i am doing this ..bcoz my wife and kid are planning to visit COP soon?
For those interested the consulate is Indian consulate.
Any advice??

If they plan to visit COP, how are they planning to get back? I have been to India and I know coming back on a RTD, they do know what it is used for. MY COP is not India but I am pretty sure you would be in problems..Indian cops are the most corrupt in the world..

Also renewing passports(my wife is an indian citizen) is a hassle. She is on H-1 but they gave her crap for no reason...I can't imagine what will you go through with being an asylee.
 
Some countries are very nosy about what you do in U.S. India is one of them. I got all but nice smile in Indian Consulate in NY just to get a visa for a business trip. I am not an Indian (it is so obvious) but still had trouble in getting that damn visa....
