HI,
How to get ready for the interview?. I am filing political asylum, and I was wondering what are the things that I need to know before the interview?. Please share your experience...

Thank You

Have u went to interview with Immigration officer?- If you I would highly recommend you get rest enough sleep and re read everything. If you have a special dates on your I would recommend you to memorize them as much as you can!- When you go to the interview don't look suspicious and don't be scared. Be positive and don't make any suspicious body languages. An immigration office highly trained they will recognize your body language and you will look suspicious with fraudulent case. You don't want your case move to Immigration asylum court. Know you 100% and pass the interview.
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.....I am worried about being scared.....But I will try to be calm and positive as much as I can...I have never been to an interview before.I heard that they are friendly. By the way, what kind of body language are you talking about?.

Thanks in advance....
n yeah Thanks for the wishes..

Always look at your interviewer officer and don't look around when you answering to his/her questions. Don't smile at all. You have to prove yourself that you still have a fear from that story or your home country and remember. Learn your case from A-Z especially dates. Good luck to you and God bless America!

Every officer has different style. Most of them might ask you the same question in different ways. They will focus on the dates and names that you put in your written declaration. Most of the officers are nice and professional and will treat you very well.

Colloect your thoughts. Gather and organize your evidence. Provide a rational, coherent statement of the facts.

Don't lie. These Officers have usually travelled around the globe to the worst places immaginable to interview people in refugee camps near mandmade and natural disasters and war zones. They do have compassion and are not heartless bastards. They can read body language pretty well and have experience dealing with traumatized people who have suffered greatly.

Do not try to memorize your written declaration word for word! This is not a poem recital. If the IO discovers that your answers are taken exactly from your affidavit, he or she will be very suspicious. You should already know the important facts of your case well enough that you will be able to talk about naturally.

In many ways, an asylum interview is just like a job interview. The person who interviews you is there to determine if you are the right candidate for the position. YOUR OBJECTIVE IS TO SELL YOURSELF AND TO HIGHLIGHT ALL THE IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT FACTS NECESSARY FOR HIM OR HER TO MAKE THE DETERMINATION THAT YOU DO INDEED MEET THE CRITERIA FOR THE POSITION. YOU WILL ONLY BE GRANTED ASYLUM IF YOU HAVE BEEN DETERMINED TO HAVE WELL-FOUNDED FEAR OF PERSECUTION FOR BELONGING TO AT LEAST ONE OF THE ESTABLISHED CATEGORIES. You need to focus on selling the persecutions that you have endured, the fears that resulted from these persecutions and the fears you have of being sent back to the COP. Remember to always make it a point to always provide these crucial facts (persecution or fear of persecution) in your answers even if you are not directly asked about them. The best approach to answer any question is to always answer the question you are being asked first and then point out such crucial facts because they are sort of related to the question being asked.

Thank You all for your response. I am doing all the things. But, I have one more question. What type of body language are you guys talking about?
@Thatflyguy- If they ask me about a certain incident, Do I have tell them about everything about the incident?

Yes. Tell him or her everything you can remember about the incident. Make sure that you tell it in a way that is easy for him or her to understand or follow. You want to make it as clear and least confusing for them. When he or she asks you an open-ended question (ie. Why are you seeking asylum?, What could happen to you if you are sent back?), the more you tell them the more likely it is in your favor. Just keep talking. Provide relevant facts and crucial details. If the IO has a question, he or she will interrupt you. Otherwise, tell the IO as much as possible. Remember that you bear the burden of proof in an asylum case: You have to make sure that the IO understands 100% why are you being persecuted or fear being persecuted and why the IO absolutely needs to grant you asylum.
