How to delay move to US while keeping GC

My GC (or the papers that will get me a GC at the port of entry) is about to come in 1 weeks time from the Delhi Consulate.

I have also got a good job offer in India recently.

I am thinking of ways to delay my move to US.

1. How many years does one get through re-entry permit? 1 or 2?

2. Can I delay my move to US beyond 1-2 years (once say re-entry permit expires) without loosing my Green card?

3. If I stay in US for (365/2) +1 day, every year, can i keep my GC?

Thanks for your advice!

You cannot get a re-entry permit, since you are not a Permanent Resident yet. You merely have an immigrant visa. The visa expires in six months.

That's a start. You'll also need to maintain a residence and other ties in the US year-round, file taxes as a resident, and pay income tax on your worldwide income.

I agree with TheRealCanadian. It also kills me that people who get the greencards delay, while there are millions waiting  If you don't wish to be a permanent resident of the USA don't apply. leave the visas for those who are truly in need
