How many TNs can one get ?

I have been working in the US for the past 8 years, having acquired 5 TNs and spending 3 years on H1B. I am going to the Vancouver PFI to apply for another TN visa with a US employer.

1. Is there a limit to how many TNs one can get?

2. Do I need to demonstrate an intent to return to Canada this time? I was never asked about this the three times I secured TNs at the POE.

2. No need to demonstrate; if asked you would simply state your awareness of the need to leave US (for anywhere) when no longer in status.
 
Just curious, how did you acquire 5 TN's in 8 years.
Each TN is valid for 3 years, so it should be only 3 TN's.

Sometimes TNs are approved for only 1 year. Officers have discretion.

Sometimes people change jobs sooner than 3 years.

What is the reason for an officer to give only 1 year TN?

They are granted for three years to my knowledge, as long as they are full time.
 
As Grant said, your offer can be for only a year. Even a one-time, one-week job, would require a TN.
