How many days prior to start of new H-1B am I allowed to come back?

My new job with my new employer starts only on August 19th, 2002. If i go back to my home country lets say in June, what is the earliest date that I can return to the US?

P/s: i was laid off.

After Aug 19, only...

You cannot enter before the start of validity date with the new visa stamp. Although a few days before to setup a home may be allowed at the discretion of the officer at POE.
