does anyone know how long will they take before approving the cases... any past experience please share...
eb2 - 8 months minimum - 10 months average
eb3 - 12 months minimum -14 months average

If your PD is current, it will be based on the date you filed 485 and not PD.
Only after june 1st
i was told that they will start approving only after june 1st... i kinda agree, since the dates moved for june bulletin...
also looks like people with PD in 2002 (EB3) were getting RFE's last month, so i am guessing they were pre-processing the cases even before the date was current. so should see approvals starting june 1st... hope i am true.

I filed concurrent on May 2004 in NSC and I140 got aprroved in July2004 . PD Nov 02(EB3 India)...as per your reply they will look for my 485 file date!?
Then my 485 is already current when i look in this link it saying "Employment based is Oct2006!? so i am already current in both ways and i can expect my
card any time!?

is this is the proper site we have to look for processing times!?

Its seems like they are processing cases around your date.
The prob with the processing date in their website is that, they
could take it back in the next update.
When visa numbers become current in june, several retrogressed
people will become eligible. There wont be much in 2001 and 2002 but
there will be some in 2003 and a lot in 2004.
If I were you, I'll check if my name check is cleared ( by going to
local office).
Keep posting status, so that a lot of us will be benefited too.

Name check is one of the most dreaded thing in immigration journey.
Its a security check done by FBI. people get stuck in that for years
sometimes. Without that clearance USCIS cannot approve the case.
There is enough said about it in the forums here. Just do a search
We'll ur local office, goto www.uscis.gov and click on Info pass.
There you can give your zip and will take you to the right place.
When you talk with an officer, tell that you need to know specifically if
the Name Check is cleared from fbi.
Have you originally filed to NSC or transferred to NSC from CSC?
Keep in touch..your case will give some clues for me too..

Do you think by talking to USCIS by calling 1 800 numbers wouldn't help?
It would. But not gaurenteed. Sometimes local office may not work too. Some people approach senators /congressman to know status. Whatever works for you..

Just now i went to Infopass website and got it for monday May21 12.45pm.The office is walkable distance from my work..so i decided to go and see wats going on there! but its closed by 11am every wedday!
So Babu i will go this monday and ask them about my name check..any thing else we need to ask them!?? plz let me know guys!?? I can ask questions related to all of us not only for me so let me know!??

Guys: This is great that dates have moved and looks like they are processing 2002 cases. My PD is May 2002 and I'm leaving for India on June 3rd. What if my case gets approved (having high hopes) when I'm in India or they send letter for interview.

I don't see any other things to ask. I don't think
they have too much information anyway. Ask if Name Check
is cleared. Ask if any other any issues to approve the case...

To answer your question, if you GC is approved and if you are outside
of US, you should be okay if you have advance parole..from my limited
knowledge. But DO NOT take my word for it.
Now the chances of approval. Eventhoug your PD is 2002, your RD is 05/2005. There are people whose RD is older than that. Nimmi is May 04.
I'm OCT 04. I know a few people from my town, who are scattered in 2004.
Technically you have to wait for your turn in terms of RD. But this is USCIS anything could happen. Keep your fingers crossed....
I would recommend to check if your name check cleared in that way you are all set for approval.
Hope & pray all of us will get approval soon.

True. For PD current cases, RD is critical.

Lets say A has PD Jan 2003, filed his/her I485 in Jan 2004 and person B has PD Jan 2002 and filed I485 in Jan 2005. Based on above comments, I assume person A gets GC sooner than person B because of RD provided NC and all checks have been cleared, which makes sense for me.
Otherwise there will be huge confusion due to clearing of labour backlogs ?
