How long it will take after October 1st, 2007?

Hey guys/gals,

I was just curious on what was the latest receipt date that was approved from Nebraska. My receipt date is December 9th, 2006. I am thinking about going back and getting married so I can add her in my I-485 before it gets approved, but I am not getting off from my employer until the first week of October 2007. If it gets approved in the first week right a away after the fiscal year starts, then the whole purpose of getting marrried before I-485 approval will be ruined. So, from what you know, what you guys/gals think is the time frame for approval after new fiscal year starts? My gut feeling is that they might not jump right a away and approve another 60,000 GCs on first two weeks of October. Even after new fiscal year starts, it should take some time for them to jump start...right? Please, shed some lights on what you think. Please!

The most they can approve in October is 1/4 of the yearly quota, 35,0000. If you are EB3 or EB2 India/China, you may not even be current on October 01, as cut-off dates will be deeply retrogressed.

There is no point really, looking at last processing dates, as these have been thrown out the window. Fifo is dodo.

The consequences of getting one spouse approved before the other files are so drasticlt TERRIBLE however, that I wouldn't be waiting to find out if my date was going to be current in October (you will know by Sept 15th), I would be telling my boss that I'm going to get married NOW.

You should veiw the fact that you didn't get approval in July as lucky, and go get married.

It was meant to be! don't screw it up.

I concur with Nelsona, I believe they will retrogress and adjudicate the filed I-485 base on PD, so even if you file it now or wait til you are current, it would make a difference. That,s my gut feeling, and especially if you are on TN I would wait a bit

Thank you guys for the response.

Mine is EB2 and will be charged on Nepal. I can not go back before Oct 1st week. If it does not get approved within the first three of Oct, I should be fine. What you guys think?

Realize that if you get approved before marrige, your intended spouse will probably not be able to come to US for several years, and certainly will not get green card until you are a US citizen, in 5 years.

Even in the best case, it should take at least couple of weeks to process and approve...right? Do you all think, it might be that they will get the applications right away and I might get approval during the first week of October?

Look, They approved 60,000 visas in one month in June and approvals began June 1st. Do you think they just sat around waiting for June 1st? They will line up approvals and start approving on October 1st. They already have your application, it may be ready to go now, they may simply have run out of time in July.

Gamble if you wish.

I can get vacation with about 15 day lead time.

Murthy has just released 'inside info' on what October VB should look like:

Basically, look at the January 2007 VB, and that will be what we see in October, if your PD was not current in January 2007 bulletin, you will have no problem waiting to marry in October.
