I entered US through JFK in October 2007 but I am yet to get my actual GC. My friends told me it usually takes around 3 months. I am concerned. Please share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks.

My mom entered through Baltimore in early November, and received her card a couple of weeks ago. Prior to getting the card, she did receive several notices from USCIS. Have you received anything at all?

did you get a welcome letter from USCIS?

if not, they probably don't have your correct address, or the card was returned to them.

Call them and find out.

Also, write your name on your mail box.

I received my social security card which means they have my correct address. I haven't received anything else. Am I supposed to. Is there any place on USCIS website where I can check? Also am I right to believe that it takes longer since I live in New York.

I think Social Security is totally different department from USCIS.
You have any Welcome letter or any evidence for your green card approval.
Just follow the instruction posted by LucyMO

Ok I am gonna call and try to find out. Any do's and don'ts before I do that. Also does anybody knows their number. I came through JFK and my application was handled by Vermont Service Center.

Information about what to do if you have not received your GC 60 days after entry to the U.S. is available www.uscis.gov. You may also want to call the Customer Service line at 1-800-375-5283 or make an Infopass appointment to resolve the issue.

infopass appt won't help him much, since the card production is handled by a service center. The district office won't have much to do with it.

I didn't have to call USCIS. I receive the welcome notice yesterday. I hope the card will come soon. Thanks to all for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
