Hello all,
I am planning to invite my cousin(40yrs) and her mother (68yrs) for a short visit to usa. She is a doctor with govt job. My question is, for how long do you normally get a visitor visa? just in case she cannot make it before the winter becomes very bad, can she use the same visa and visit us next summer?

Also, is it good to show that i will be supporting them for the trip or to show their own financial resources?

Any help would be much appreciated.

The visa can be issued for up to 10 years, or for less. Individual admissions can be for up to six months.

Thanks much for the replies.

Is there anything she has to do for getting a longer term visa stamp? Or is it purely on the interviewer's discretion?

also , if anyone can shed some light on my doubts about the sponsoring docs, it would be great..

i think you misunderstood the point.

You get a visa, a B-2 tourist visa, which allows you to apply for entry to the US. They are issued usually for 10 years and you can use it anytime while it has not expired. You could also get a restricted one, that is only valid for 1 year or 1 month. It all depends on the Consular Officer.

Then, once you have the visa, you travel to the USA and you come through Immigration, fill out a form I-94. Where an Immigration Officer will determine (based on the purpose of your visit and questions he will ask you) whether you will be granted a time of stay in the USA or not. Usually they give you up to 6 months, but that depends on the Officer. He may give you 1 day or 1 week or 1 month.

Again it is all at the discretion of the Immigration Officers.

The validity of the visa depends entirely on the consul's discretion.
If your aunt is a doctor, why are you sending her an I-134? That will hurt her case in my opinion.
