How long is name check valid ?

I don't know if this is correct but what I saw elsewhere on this forum is that they only do the name check once, that it might be done well in advance of FP #1 (e.g. around the time that the I-485 is filed). There is also some speculation that the USCIS might not do name check for some people, e.g. if you are from certain countries (Canada?).

I don't know how long it's valid for. They also do name check during citizenship processing I believe and as far as I know they redo it if it was done earlier.

Again, it would be good to have the above confirmed...

amurat,
There are two name checks.
#1 done by FBI on receiving request from USCIS which is done once and is valid forever.
#2 done by USCIS itself (IBIS check) and is now valid for only 90 days.

Each time you give FP, FBI does the FP check, which is different from their name check.

Hope this helps.

And....please try to do a search on this forum. These points are discussed in various threads multiple times.

Thanks for your insight, Sanga.
So would one have to have #1 and #2 both valid and current to in order get approval? What's the point of have #2 which's only valid 3 months?

Thanks again.
