How long is H4 valid in US?

What is the legal length of stay on H4?
3 or 6 months or as long as your spouse is on H1B?

I believe that exact stay period it is decided at the port of entry on I-94. But I'm more concerned how long is the visa stamp valid for.

Legal length of stay in H visa category is 6 years. Visa is normally issued for 3 years. At POE authorized stay is granted normally upto the validity of H visa stamp, or expiration of any extension of H status, whichever is later.

You need a h4 visa stamp in passport to enter US in H4. The I94 expiry date is decided by the H4 stamp, nothing else.
