I heard that the Passport Card can take a lot longer than the Passport Booklet and as a result that also holds up your naturalization Certificate. Any idea how long the Passport Card take ?

Booklet and card are mailed back as separate shipments (as is the NC itself). There is usually a week or 2 timeline over which all 3 letters arrive. May I ask why a potential "hold up" of returning the NC is an issue for you? If time is of essence, get expedited processing for your passport or go to one of the passport agency if you need your PP within days.

Thanks David. I did get expedited processing but even that is a bit too long for my liking because in the event of an emergency where I need to travel (say) tomorrow unexpectedly, not having ann NC to even apply for an emergency passport is not a nice feeling. So you are kinda in this unfortunate position, where you dont have a passport and I am not sure how you can even apply for one without the NC during those 2 weeks when they are processing the passport application. If there was emergency where my daughter (born here) had to travel, I could get her a passport almost over night with any one of the 2 dozen copies of her original birth certificates we keep handy. I wish they gave copies of the NC.

Put things into perspective: what are the chances of you having to travel out of US within the next few weeks due to an emergency?

Hi Blanco,
Not sure if the hold-up of NC is a defined rule/pattern. Here is my timeline for PP application and receipt... I live in Maryland and applied regular processing at a local post office.
N400 Oath Date : Apr-23-2010
PP, PC Applied : Apr-28-2010 (Self and Spouse)
PP, NC received : May-13-2010 (Self and Spouse)
PC received : May-14-2010 (Self and Spouse)
