How long does it take to get response for status enquiry?

Hello,
My lawyer has initiated a status enquiry early this month for my I-140. How long does it take to get response from USCIS? When should I expect their reply?

Anyone have experience with status enquiry?

I thought that the USCIS tells you to expect a response to an inquiry within 30 days (and to check again if you don't).

sometimes...you get no answer...

My lawyer submited a status inquiry to INS local office in NYC on 01/27/2004,we never heard back from them and that was the first one.A month after that I went there myself to find out the status of my case,pending for interview since 01/06/2003...I am still waiting....
 
I140 approved

I140 was pending about 2 months past the advertised processing date at VSC. Requested attorney to open an enquiry, which he did promptly.
Got the approval within a week, not sure whether it is coincidence or enquiry kicked off the approval. In any case, positive news is always good. (BTW our attorney is really a pro, looks at each minute detail and prompt in action).

ND: 06/12/2003
enquiry opened: 05/13/2004
RD: 05/18/2004
EB3 concurrent with Labor Substitute
 
nothing from INS

My attorney issued an inquiry on Apr. 20, 2004 regarding my 140
(EB2 ND 04/03/2003), but nothing back from INS. Is there anyone
with the same ND date as mine? what else I should do? Is it
related to new MEMO? Any suggestion is great appreciated.

BTW, My 485 was filed at late Nov.2003.
