how long does it take to get a GC and can I leave before I get it ??

I have two questions :
1st : how long does it take to get my GC after I enter U.S ?
2nd : can I leave back to my country before i get my GC and my uncle sent it to my country so I can enter the U.S again ??

When can I start work in US and what official proceeding are to be done to maintain my GC?

Hi all. I got my DV lottery visa after my successful interview. After entering the USA, what steps are to be taken to maintain my greencard and get my SSN and GC? When can I start my work? Do I need to wait for the SSN and greencard or what? I have heard that my DV lottery visa works like a temporary green card and I can work as soon as I reach,is it true?
and do I need to file any application to return out of USA and plan to return to USA within 1 year?
Please let me know ur ideas.
