Hi all,

My RFE was responeded on Nov 8th & response received by USCIS on Nov 12. How long does it normally take for the approval nowadays..

Please advice.

Do you have the LUDs? If you track them you can predict the process of your case.

I've read many experiences related to the RFE. It usually take 2-4 weeks. The fastest processing took only 2 days. A few cases took over 4 weeks. I like to recommend you make an inquiry by NCS, or by fax.

Did you use the blue envelope provided by USCIS, or put the notice on the top of the attached sheets? The notice has a special barcode to make expedite process for the RFE, and the blue envelop is only for the RFE case for expedite process too.

My attorney used the Fedex envelop instead of the blue because of the thickness of documents for the RFE, but he put the notice on the top of the documents. It was mailed out on Dec 27, 2004. I will post the process of that.

Hi Chanuk,
Thanks for the information..
No LUD changes for my case yet :(

I'll check with my attorney as how she sent the RFE response.
About the inquiry the CS said I can enquire only after 60 days had passed i.e Jan 12th or later..

Hope to hear some good news soon..

Good luck on your case too !!

Actually, the RFE is dealt with a special bar code for expedite process. It means the RFE goes directly to the adjudicator after scanning. This is the reason why they provide the notice with a special bar code. The best way to make it faster is to use the blue envelop. If the bluse envelop is used, they can find the RFE easily and categorize it very fast. The second way is to put the notice with a bar code on the top of documents. They scan it and realize it as the RFE, and send it to the adjudicator. If the notice is missed they consider it as a normal process. This information is from the website of USCIS. I hope you get approved soon, within this week.

The Attorney said she did send the reply with the Bar code on the top. Awaiting some good news ..

Same here mine disappeared after 11/12. I hear the message "We are sorry we are unable to provide the case status for a temporary failure". But I am able to check the case status online.

Not sure why its missing. One of my friend also had his case missing in phone system after RFE response & later when the case got approved the case came back to the system.

Not yet. How about your case ?

I replied for the RFE on Dec 27, and it was acknowledged by CSC on Jan 4. The LUD has changed on Jan 5, stating, "On Jan 4th, 2005, we received your response.."

Do you have portfolio to check the change of LUD in detail?

There is absolutely no specific time between response to RFE & approval, but nowadays I'm seeing that apporvals are coming fast.

Thats true. Hope to hear from USCIS soon :)

Depending the Service Center its range varies. I researched the approval cases that had the RFE in this forum for California Service Center, limited to the approval casese from June to December, 2004. The average days are around 15 days after the reply was received by CSC. The fastest case is 2 days. The slowest case is two an half months. The survey is limited to the case of I485, and to the cases that had already FP2 to be adjudicated.

Hmm good info. Its now close to 2 months since my case was received by USCIS. Will update if I hear from USCIS.

You will be approved very soon. If you don't get response until the next week, make a call to the emergency number or NSC number. You can also fax an inquiry form to CSC. Sometimes the adjudicator forgets to handle the case which should be adjudicated soon.

If you have LUDs after receiving by CSC, it means the case has been processed. But the adjudicator has not touched yet the case, if you have not LUDs after you replied for the RFE. In some cases, the approval notice is mailed without the change of LUDs or message, but these cases are very few. Anyway, let us to cross the fingers!
