33 Months after the approval date of a US resident status. It is 3 years but you are allowed to file 90 days prior to the 3rd birthday of your approval.
Hi folks, this might be a stupid question -
What are the reasons for applying for a US citizenship once you get a GC? I mean aren't the immigration benefits same in both cases?
There are rights and responsibilities you have a a citizen that you do not have as a LPR. This is among what you learn as you study civics for the naturalization test. If you want to be a full participant in the US, you will become a citizen; it is hard work but then anything worth having generally is hard.
The LATER date of:
- 3 years minus 90 days of being a permanent resident
- 3 *full* years of being married to the same US citizen (90-day headstart does not apply to the years of marriage)
