How long do I need to stay in the US after I receive GC?

Hey guys! Here is a question I have:

Once I receive my green card after I arrived in the States, how long do I need to stay, or can I leave the US immediately. After I leave the US then when should I return (within what time frame) in order to maintain my perminent resident status and keep my GC?

thanks so much in advance!

You can travel in and out as much as you want, but if you stay out too long USCIS may refuse entry. You have to file a tax return in the US since you are a perminent residence and not a tourist.

Yes you can. But don't forget you have to file a tax return in April of the next year. Your GC comes with benefits and also with other things:)

It is valid indefinitely as long as you maintain your U.S. residence. In other words, there is no time restriction on how long you can stay in the United States. You may apply for U.S. Citizenship after 5 years of continuous residence in the United States. Application for citizenship is optional.
